WW1 Ergite Explosives Co Engaged On Goverment Work Badge Penrhyndeudraeth Wales

A rare original First World War period 'Ergite Explosives Company war workers badge'; gilt brass blue and white enamel title surround ornate embossed white shield to centre bearing red Welsh Dragon on seeded ground; the reverse impressed with early maker's details 'THOMAS FATTORINI BOLTON' and with registration, design and patent number 'Rd 638232' for the year 1914. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole lapel fitting, no stress marks or damage to the enamel, gilt finish remains bright.Height approx 28mm.The factory which manufactured TNT, was destroyed by an explosion in June 1915 but was later rebuilt and re-opened in January 1916 under the Management of the Factories Branch of the Explosives Supply Department.
