Description
You are bidding on a NICE used example of a WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy Type 2 Winter Flight Helmet! This was used by various Japanese Pilots and crew members throughout the war.Made of a rich deep red-brown leather by Gokinkai Co., Ltd., this helmet is in GOOD used condition! It is constructed of 5 separate pieces of brown leather, and though it normally would have a 1β³ wide brim at the front, the original brim has been removed (easy to replace). The ear cups are sewn-on leather pockets, designed to fit the Gosport receiver, and the reverse features a leather strap to retain the pilot goggles. The cloth label that normally would have had the pilot's name has been removed, but internally, it features BOTH of the manufacture labels (which is quite rare), along with a production date of July 1944. It is also lined with rabbit fur. Some of the leather is separating at the straps (see photos), and it is missing the rear button. Leather is quite soft and supple overall. Could use a bit of TLC and repair/restoration. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
