WW2 German Wehrmacht – M31 CANTEEN & STRAPS – LATE WAR RED STEEL – VERY NICE!

You are bidding on a SUPERB example of a WW2 German WehrmachtM31 Canteen & Straps! This is the later war STEEL variant.The M31 canteen was based on the M1893 and M1907 canteen which were used throughout WW1.These were originally manufactured in aluminum, but as aluminum was required for use in other equipment (aircraft, for example), they were then re-designed to be manufactured in steel.Made of steel with a later rayon cloth covering (as opposed to the standard felt cover),this late-war canteen is in EXCELLENT condition for its age.There is no major corrosion or damage, and comes complete with the original Straps and Bakelite Drinking Cup. The Canteen is marked, 'SMM 43', and though the leather straps show some wear in areas, they are still quite solid. Some small chips to the Drinking Cup.
