WW2 German Luftwaffe Rauchsichtzeichen – SURVIVAL SMOKE SIGNAL CONTAINER – RARE!

You are bidding on a SUPERB and 100% ORIGINAL WW2 German Luftwaffe Rauchsichtzeichen (Smoke Signal Container)!This held 6 Rot Sternsignalpatronon (Red Star Signal Flares)!The Luftwaffe Rauchsichtzeichen is a hand smoke signal (used in survival situations) that was manufactured in three different sizes: 80, 160, 350. Each container is painted orange and marked in black with directions for use and the name 'Rauchsichtzeichen Orange 80 (160 or 350).All three versions are orange painted cylindrical cans with clip-on covers. The #80 size is 1.5″ in diameter and 3″ high. The cover is sealed with a strip of adhesive tape and it covers the cord or chain of the pull igniter. The orange cloud lasts 12 seconds. The #160 type measures 2″ in diameter and 3″ high; and the #350 type measures 3″ in diameter and 3.5″ high. These latter two sizes generates a larger cloud of smoke than the #80 size. The coloring agent in the smoke is a combination of yellow and orange organic dry-stuffs.Made of aluminum and steel this Luftwaffe 'Rauchsichtzeichen (Smoke Signal) Orange 160' is in EXCELLENT unused condition! Dated '7.43', there are some slight marks and wear and you can see in the photos, but otherwise SUPERB! The original factory sealing tape is also still in place; and all markings and instructions are clear and easy to read. Normally, this would have been stored in the Pilot's Channel Pants or similar. Usually, these are found in USED or CORRODED condition, making this example EXCEEDINGLY RARE!A VERY NICE addition to any collection or display!
