Description
You are bidding on a VERY RARE example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht SR.4 or SR.9 (Sehrohr) Bunker Periscope Messkreis! Found in Belgium, this was also used on the S.F.14 Rabbit Ear Periscope. Both the S.R.4 and S.R. 9 periscopes were optical instruments that allowed observers inside a fortified position, or bunker, to view the area outside without exposing themselves to danger, like enemy fire. They featured mirrors or lenses and a mechanism for rotating the viewing tube, providing a wider field of vision for spotting threats or coordinating artillery fire. They were crucial in WW2 trench and bunker warfare to enable observation and targeting without risk to the soldier.Made of aluminum and steel, this Bunker Periscope Messkreis is in EXCELLENT used condition! Found in Belgium, this was most likely part of the Atlantic Wall, that protected the beaches from an allied landing force. The main scale shows the angle in thousands (Strich); and indicator representing the center of the reticule; a knob for fine tuning, and a locking/unlocking mechanism. There are some marks and scratches, but it still retains 95% original paint! All adjustments work as they should, however the main knob is missing (easy replacement), as well as the bubble level. Stamped with the manufacture code, 'gwy' (Bizerba Waagen- und Maschinenfabrik Wilhelm Kraut KG). Comes complete in the original box, however, some of the internal wood components appear to be missing. A VERY NICE addition to any collecting or display!Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
