Description
You are bidding on an EXCELLENT set of WW2 German Wehrmacht Dienstglas 10Γ50 Field Binoculars! Made by Carl Zeiss, these were brought back by US veteran at the end of the war.The German Army used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6Γ30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service). Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stronger optics (such as this 10Γ50), and were issues to personnel on a limited basis.Made byblc(Carl Zeiss) of a large tooled alloy and aluminum construction, these 10Γ50 power binoculars are in VERY NICE used condition! The lens bodies retain about 98% of their original, rough textured, black finish, with only slight marks and wear. The aluminum end piece fittings retain about 98% of their original finish, and the eye sockets are intact. The focus adjustments still function perfectly on both eye pieces and the optics are still AMAZINGLY CLEAR with NO spotting or haziness! The body is well marked with the impressed designation, 'Dienstglas 10Γ50'; the serial number, '2183660', the manufacturer's three letter code, 'blc' (indicating manufactured by Carl Zeiss Militarabteilung of Jena); and a 'o' lubricant code β indicating Vacuum grease (Vakuumfett) 1416, suitable for use under lower temperatures up to -40 degrees C). The original rain shield is also present, but not attached as the main binocular strap is missing (easy to attach). They come complete in their original black case, which features a 3 digit manufacture code, 'ksd'; the date, '1942'; and a very prominentwaffenamt. Some slight wear to the leather belt loop, as well as the aluminum should strap loops, but otherwise NO cracks, breaks or damage! A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
