Original German WWII Orange Bakelite Butterdish (Butterdose)An authentic Bakelite butterdish (Butterdose), the small round ration container issued to Wehrmacht and Waffen SS soldiers as part of their mess kit. Designed with a quarter-turn locking lid, it was used to store butter, margarine, jam, or cheese rations in the field.This Bakelite dish is showing some fading and discoloration; with quite a bit of surface scratches and marks inside/out and remaining in decent, usable condition. It would benefit from a good cleaning. A desirable and practical piece of wartime field equipment for any collection.
