Description
Original German WWII Ration Coupons With Envelope (Lebensmittelkarten-Tasche)Germany introduced rationing even before WWII (1939) in preparation for shortages.Every citizen received a Lebensmittelkarte-Tasche (food card), and families kept them in these special envelopes. The envelope had tab dividers for different categories of food and essential goods. The government used these to control distribution and encourage consumption of substitute products. These ration cards were issued in pre-war and wartime to organize ration coupons for various goods such as bread, meat, fat, milk/eggs, sugar, nutritional products, and soap. Only a seller could remove a coupon at time of purchase. This authentic example shows expected age toning and light wear but remains intact and legible—an excellent piece of everyday civilian history from the Third Reich era.
