A silvered & enamel contemporary strikeThe Medal for Services to the Red Cross was an Austro-Hungarian award instituted on 17 August 1914 by Emperor Franz Joseph I to mark the 50th anniversary of the Geneva Convention. It was intended to honour individuals who had worked in the voluntary emergency services of the Red Cross, either in peacetime or during war time. The awards of the silver and bronze medals made for 'War Service' all bore the decoration for war service, which was inclusion of a green enamelled wreath around the inner rim of the respective medalsThe enamel all intactCondition: GVF
