A good original First World War period 'On War Service Fairfield official identification gilt badge' white enamel title circlet, King George V Crown to the centre, the reverse impressed with maker's details 'W.J.Dingley B'Ham' and stamped with official issue number '3892'. Very good condition, complete with original buttonhole fitting, no damage to the enamel.Diameter approx 25mm.Fairfields as it was commonly called, was situated in Govan on the south bank of the River Clyde Glasgow Scotland, the yard built Warships, Submarines and a train ferry, as well as many other crafts during the First World War.
