WW2 Ministry of Supply Barrow Works shipbuilders badge

A scarce original Second World War 'Ministry of Supply Barrow Works gilt brass identification pin badge', green enamel title circlet, the plain centre bearing a GVIR Crown over official issue number 'U 44'. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no damage to the enamel.Diameter approx 26mm.The Ministry of Supply was department of the Government formed in 1939 to co-ordinate the supply of equipment to all three British armed forces. Barrow Shipbuilding Works, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria were responsible for supplying Royal Navy ships during the Second World War.
