German WWII Photo of Knights Cross Winner Kurt Prinz-Prinz was a highly decorated Major der Reserve in the Wehrmacht during the war. He went into service in 1937. During the second World War he acted as Bataillons-Ordonnanz-Offizier with the rank Leutnant and later as Kompanieführer and Kompaniechef with the rank of Oberleutnant. From the spring of 1944 he served as Bataillonsführer and took part in the battles in South Russia. In 1944 he was also involved in the Ardennes offensive and became a Führer of a Volksgrenadier-Bataillon with the 62.Volksgrenadier-Division. Here he obtained the rank of Hauptmann. In April 1945 he was captured by the Americans, and became Prisoner-of-War.He was transferred to a Soviet pow prison in February 1946, where he stayed until November 1949. He lived to 89 years old and died in 2009. This photo is in good condition; it is signed in blue ink. It measures 5 ¾ inches (27.30cm) long and 4 ¼ inches (10.79cm) wide. This guy would be interesting to research.
