Fine Waffen-SS Type Two Camouflage Smock

Sold
$550.00

Description

This smock is an outstanding example of a later war production piece. The main features–the buttoning flap pockets, the loops for camouflage etc., distinguish this from the earlier type, which had no loops and featured vertical slots in the body of the jacket for easy access beneath. This example has the aforementioned pockets and loops; also the sleeve ends are fabric ends, not folded and sewn. The interesting part is the smock pattern is a rarer blurred edge overprinted onto oakleaf. The pictures show all of the features, including stitching, gauge of the fabric, sleeve end treatments, armpit slots, use of scrap camo pieces for loops, etc. The smock shows storage wear only and appears unissued. There is still a good degree of elasticity at the waistband and cuffs. There is an area of cloth loss around the center loops below the neck on the back of the smock. This is either corrosion or a chew. Overall, this is a fine example that would grace any Waffen-SS collection. COA accompanies.
