Late War Waffen-SS Greatcoat (Wachmantel). The Greatcoat/surcoat belonged to the standard equipment of every soldier. The greatcoat could be worn in cold weather or rain and all other conceivable situations. This is a typical SS-Type greatcoat, without the turned up French cuffs as found on army type coats. The greatcoat has been produced according to the late war cloth minimising production methods and is having minimal lining material on the inside. The greatcoat has two rows of six front closure buttons. The greatcoat is nicely size marked. The greatcoat is complete with an original matching pair of late war simplified shoulder-straps as found together. The white piped shoulder straps are having nco braid attached indicating the rank of a Waffen-SS 'Unterscharfรผhrer'. The greatcoat is in very good condition showing some minor traces of usage and some small field repairs. The shoulder-straps and greatcoat are completely matching in their late war simplified production method. This greatcoat originates from the United States and was taken home by a US GI as a souvernir from the war. Rare and hard to find original Waffen-SS greatcoat!
