Wehrmact (Heer) Obergefreiter's or Waffen-SS 'Rottenführer' Rank Chevron (Armwinkel). The newly formed Wehrmacht Heer introduced a new system of sleeve rank insignia for wear by the enlisted ranks on 25 September 1936. Insignia with one chevron indicating the rank of Gefreiter, two chevrons for the rank of Obergefreiter, and two chevrons with one pip for the rank of Stabsgefreiter. These chevrons were worn on the upper left sleeve of the tunic and Greatcoat. The chevron is executed in HBT (Drillich) material having two V-shaped bands of subdued, matte grey rayon attached indicating the rank of 'Obergefreiter' or 'Rottenführer'. Nice original example in good used condition!
