Full profileSpectacular battle damaged Waffen-SS M40 single decal 'GI Art' helmet, the helmet was souvenired by a Michigan USA based GI who participated in the Ardennes battles, please paste the URL below for additional details about its history, the shell is stamped ET64, the lot number is 932 which, as stated in the thread, indicates production in mid to late 1940, battle damage aside, the liner band has not been disturbed and the two remaining split pins still have their washers, the lightly worn brown colored leather liner is stamped size 56, the drawstring is still in place, the chinstrap is complete but separated, with one small piece being loose, the end has the appearance of never having been unbuckled, the matte schiefergrau finish is largely intact except where damaged and painted over, the helmet's classic ET decal has minor non detracting wear, there are a few vertical scratches to the helmet's opposite side, the (likely) shrapnel damage knocked out a section of the shell including the right liner pin, sections of the liner band and leather liner were mangled, the helmet's top has a large hand swastika hand painted in yellow with white highlights and red border, the shrapnel hole was outlined in white paint, as mentioned in the discussion, the helmet lacks patina from repeated handling and is still quite dusty internally, one-of-a-kind battle souvenir, USD $6000 HOLDhttps://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/forum/wehrmacht-uniforms-and-equipment/john-burnett-helmet-forum/15008656-ss-battle-damaged-g-i-art-m40-helmet
