St Sebastian Patron of Soldiers Sweetheart Brooch Sterling

Vintage WWII sweetheart brooch with an eagle holding a charm of St Sebastian - the patron saint of martyrs, athletes and soldiers. US enamel shield with wings, obviously very military in style, but it mentions athletes on the front for whatever reason. Marked Sterling on the back. Some tarnishing and general wear. The loop on the charm is slightly bent. Very unique piece.
