This is a large M35 Heer Camouflage helmet by Quist, size 68, heat lot number #3221. The helmet shows the outline of the heer shield beneath the camouflage finish on the left, but no sign of the national shield, which is either buried under thicker paint, or was removed in 1940. The overall finish is strong, with a base of pinkish tan, then brick red and grass green added for form a fine looking camo scheme. The liner is fully intact and golden brown from service use and wear (the shoelace-drawstring looks to have been with this helmet for a very long time). The single ply band is dated 1937. The left chinstrap bale is missing, likely a sign of the constant problems presented by the early single ply liner band, which led to the reinforced band in 1938. Overall a huge and great looking camo helmet of the Heer. COA accompanies.
