US Post Civil War Mollus Medal 1272, Chief Engineer USN 1861

Original period manufacture. 14 karet gold medal numbered on the suspension loop, 1272, as worn by Chief Engineer USN John L.D. Borthwick. Entered service from Pennsylvania in 1861, making a career in the Navy postwar. Died in 1904 at Sorrento Italy at age 64. Comes with fragments of the original ribbon, medal is fine.
