German WWII Heer Enlisted Mounted Troops Ordnance Saber, Eickhorn 1938

Original period manufacture. Issue edged weapon for enlisted troops required to wear the saber. Produced by Eickhorn in 1938, it has numerous waffenamt proofs on the blade, guard and scabbard. Both the scabbard and guard are serial numbered, in this instance, non-matching, scabbard 2576, guard 2536, close but no cigar. However both the scabbard and guard are marked C.E.38 (Carl Eickhorn 1938), so matching by maker. The polished steel blade measures 28 inches in length, no corrosion issue, running straight and true. Black composition wrapped grip, bound with two strands of twisted wire. Gilded brass guard, backstrap and pommel with a brass patina finish. Dent free blue steel scabbard, missing the throat screw.
