Very early ca. 1936 produced M35 steel helmet. Started as an apple green double decal example. Received a rough layer of camouflage paint on the exterior and has a field applied army decal on top of the camo paint, that still shows nice details. This is not a 'reissued' helmet but just a camouflage job by a soldier and they applied the decal as well at those early stages of the war. Interior still in factory apple green finish. Complete with very early single band aluminum liner, dated 1931! Leather in excellent condition, also an early example with pressed size marking in the leather. Both liner and rear of the shell are unit marked 'J.N.E.K. 251/38 (Infanterie-Ersatz-Nachrichten-Kompanie 251) and named to an Unteroffizier who's name I cannot fully read. Split pins are original to the helmet, even the rear one, a period replacement has been camouflaged in the same exterior camouflage paint. Very nice big shell, marked Q68 and 192 which is one of the first produced M35 helmets by Quist in 1936.
