He was commissioned in to his own unit 31-10-1915 as a field promotion for services in the field & went on to be M.I.D for services in Mesopotamia in the London gazette 27-8-1918 & went on to the reserve of officers at the wars end. He was recalled for service in WW2 as a retired officer & was awarded the military M.B.E in the London gazette 8-6-1944.
