WW1 1914-15 TrioTo- 2348.PTE.E.H.WOMERSLEY.W.RID.RErnest Womersley was born, enlisted & lived in Cleckheaton. He first landed in France 15-4-1915 serving with the 1/4th battalion of the Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regiment. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 16-10-1915 & is buried in Bard cottage cemetery. He was 34 years of age at the time of his death & is recorded by the CWGC as the late son of Thomas Turner Womersley & Hannah Johnston Womersley & the late husband of Etty Womersley of 53 St Pegg Lane, Cleckheaton. Prior to serving overseas he was a popular humorist & noted local entertainer.GVF & Complete with a copy photo & obituary from his local newspaper. Along with MIC details & details from both SDGW & the CWGC
