WW1 1914 StarTo- T5/178.W.SIMPSON.ORD.SEA.RNVR.COLLINGWOOD.BTTN.R.N.DWilliam Simpson was a warehouseman from Gateshead. He enlisted in to the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve 17-7-1912 age 18 & joined the Collingwood battalion of the Royal Naval Division 22-8-1914. He was captured by the German forces at Antwerp 8-10-1914 & interned in Holland for the duration of the war. He was repatriated in November 1918 & returned to Gateshead.He is entitled to the August to November clasp to his 1914 star & the British War & Victory medalsVF & Complete with copy RND service records.
