WW1 Victory medalTo- 618.SJT.E.EVANS.N.SOM.YEOErnest Evans from Bath first landed in France 2-11-14 & is entitled to the 1914 star trio. He was mentioned in despatches for services in France during the later stages of 1914 & this was published in the London gazette 17-2-1915. He was sadly killed in action in France & Flanders 13-5-1915 & was 41 years of age at the time of his death. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Menin gate memorial at Ypres. He is recorded by the CWGC as the late husband of Alma Emily Bailey (formerly Evans) of 1 Spring Gardens, Huish, Yeovil.GVF & Complete with extensive research details that include two very good copy newspaper images of the recipient in uniform on horseback.
