Luftwaffe Wrist Compass (Armbandkompaß AK39). The AK39 (Armbandkompaß 39) was developed in 1939 for wear by pilots and aircrew personnel to calculating their position if forced to abandon their aircraft or in crash landing situations. The AK39 was designed to be worn on the wrist, although it was often attached to other pieces of equipment. The black coloured bakelite compass is in good functional condition. The compass is neatly marked on the back with a Luftwaffe Contract Number (FL23235-1). The compass is complete with its original leather straps and extension strap. The compass is still stored in its original factory carton box, the box is nicely marked by the company of 'Kadlec' from Prague. Both the box and compass are marked with the same serial number. Rare original compass in factory box in mint and unissued condition!
