You are bidding on a VERY NICE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe 5th Model 1940's Junghans Clock, Fl. 23885! This type was used in other aircraft such as the Me109, Fw190, Me110, Me262, and many others!Mounted on the main instrument panel, this clock needs no introduction. It was made famous throughout the war as the standard German Aircraft Cockpit Clock. It was usually mounted on the front or side cockpit consoles and features a chronometer, adjustable bezel, and a 30-minute timer.Made of aluminum with a bakelite bezel, this last (5th) model Junghans clock is in VERY NICE used condition! It retains 95% of its original RLM66 surface paint (cockpit colour), and features the screw on back. Some light marks and scratches throughout from age, but nothing that detracts. The dial still glows at night (must be charged with UV light), and the Data Plate is present, but slightly faded. There are no broken part internally, and it is 100% FUNCTIONALโ€ฆHOWEVERโ€ฆthe button to enable the second hand/chronometer is stuck, and is currently not enabling the counter. In addition, the lever to adjust the time has broken off. It can still be operated, but you need to use a pair of tweezers to pull out the lever. Both issues are an easy fix (will need to be lubricated/serviced), but I will leave that to the winning bidder. Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, panel re-build, or restoration project!
