You are bidding on a VERY NICE used example of WW2 Greman Wehrmacht 8ร24 Handwinkelfernrohr (f) Sighting Periscope, as used by various ground personnel, tank destroyers, and Sd.kfz. 251 Half Tracks!Made in WW2 in captured French Factories, this Sighting Periscope wasa useful tool in the Wehrmacht for general observation (in both vehicles and on the ground), and for artillery fire observation and direction throughout the war.It was often seen poking out a commander's cupola, primarily as a safe method for him to observe the enemy without risk to life.Made of aluminum, brass, and steel by Huet, this aiming periscope is in EXCELLENT used condition. Manufactured by the Germans at the captured French factory, most of the original paint remains, with only slight wear and marks due o the age! Features the German 'H/6400' marking, indicating that it features a gradient scale. The optics are functional, however there is some spotting and a bit of haziness. All focus adjustment still turn as they should. Manufacture info and markings are stamped into the tubes. There is a chip in one of the objective lenses, but it does not affect the function. The case included is the original to the set, but sadly the bottom has worn away (see photos). It could be repaired, if one wished. I have shown this EXACT type in use in the Sd.Kfz. 251 Half Track in the last photos.A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!
