Here on offer is a beautiful, near mint German hunting bowie and skinning knife set with stag antler grips and double sleeved leather sheath by Doppelreh, Solingen, circa 1950.These are possibly the best pair of German hunting knives I have ever had the pleasure to own and they have been in my collection for many years.The large bowie/hunting knife is in mint condition and has a 6.25' mirror finish steel blade with a fuller grove on both sides. On one side of the ricasso it is stamped with the maker's logo being a 'double headed deer' and the name:DOPPELREHSOLINGENIt has a brass single finger guard and brass and coloured red and black ringed spacers at both ends of the beautiful solid section of the genuine stag antler.At the top it is fitted with a solid oval shaped polished aluminium pommel that secures the blade tang with a slotted brass screw, that fits flush to the top.The smaller skinning knife is in near mint condition with just some light surface scratches on one side of the 3.5' blade, near the tip. Apart from that the blade also has a bright mirror finish to the steel and is stamped on one side of the ricasso with the maker's logo of a 'double headed deer' and the name:DOPPELREHSOLINGENIt has a small brass single finger guard and brass and coloured red and black ringed spacers at both ends of the beautiful solid section of the genuine stag antler.At the top it is fitted with a solid domed shaped polished aluminium pommel that secures the blade tang with a slotted brass screw, that fits flush to the top.Both knives fit snuggly into its original brown leather double sleeved sheath, that securely holds both knives. There is an embossed maker's logo on the front and both retaining straps/studs are still in place. The top strap has been repaired with what looks like strong leather glue, that has made a very strong repair.
