This is an attractive - and I deem hardly worn but still very detailed and pronounced! - example of a so-called: WH (Kriegsmarine) 'Zerstörerkriegsabzeichen' (or: destroyers'-war-badge) being a clearly maker- (ie. 'L/18'-) marked example as executed in light-golden- (ie. silver-)toned zinc-based metal (ie. 'Feinzink') as was produced by the desirable maker (ie. 'Hersteller'): 'B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt' and that comes in an overall nice- (albeit surely issued- and I deem hardly used- nor worn-), condition. The very detailed and/or pronounced badge has lost most of its golden- (ie. silverish-grey) coloured finish (which has simply 'migriert' over the years as more often) and is executed in so-called: zinc-based metal (ie. 'Feinzink'): it comes, naturally mounted onto its unaltered- and/or functional (flute-shaped, golden-toned and neatly mounted) pin and/or catch (set-up). The neat badge was - I deem - never cleaned nor polished: it is just a tiny bit dusty ie. dirty as recently found (as can be seen on the pictures). The piece shows all characteristics as to be expected for a by the maker (ie. 'Hersteller') 'B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt'-produced naval war-badge. I deem that this attractive - still nicely preserved, 'LDO'-marked and actually scarcely encountered! - WH (Kriegsmarine) 'Zerstörerkriegsabzeichen' is accordingly priced!
