Description

A scarce original pre 1919 'Colonial Nursing Association bronze nurses badge, the solid centre depicting a seated 'Britannia' within an oval title surround, suspended from an ornate oak leaf decorated bar. Very good condition, complete with original pin fittings.Height approx 58mm.Founded in 1896 by Lady Piggott as the 'Colonial Nursing Association' to provide trained nurses for the British Colonies and the small British communities abroad. Renamed the 'Overseas Nursing Association' in 1919. Closed on 1 December 1966.
