Japanese Meiji Era 1886 Pattern Infantry Hat, 1904-05 Russo Japanese War

Original era manufacture. Tall pattern kepi, with a blue wool top and yellow wool piping and band, with a brass star at center. Short patent leather visor, with a narrow black patent leather chinstrap secured by two small buttons. Simple brown leather sweatband which is torn in several places. The lining is missing, revealing original Japanese text newsprint used to line the interior of the hat. There is some scattered mothing and staining, but the hat is not crushed or damaged, displays quite well.
