WH (Heer) Single Decal reissued M18 'Ear-Cut-Out' Helmet (Stahlhelm M18 Kavallerie mit Ohrenausschnitt). The steel construction M18 Cavalry helmet was refurbished for usage in the Wehrmacht (Heer). The steel construction helmet retains a fair amount of its original field-grey overpaint, a standard 'Heeres' has been applied to the helmet, the decal is present for about 75%. The bolts for the 'Stirnpanzer' have been removed during the reissue. One of the three liner retaining rivets is missing/broken. The interior of the helmet is an original M31 leather liner with all eight fingers intact but in very dry and slightly damaged condition. The helmet is complete with its original early type leather chinstrap, the chinstrap is also in very dry and slightly damaged condition. This helmet is an older barnfind from France, the liner and chinstrap looks like it has been treated with leather creme once, otherwise the helmet is in untouched condition as found. This helmet will be a great display piece in an early transitional helmet collection. Rare original reissued M18 ear-cut-out helmet!
