A genuine and scarce British Army issue lock knife with broad arrow and NATO numbers. Made by the 'Index Measuring Tape Co. Ltd.', it appears to be in unissued condition. These are like the military General Service pocket knives but this example features a lock on the blade. The can opener is not locked and operates in a more typical fashion.Generally, this knife appears to be in unissued condition and the 'UTD' marked blade is unsharpened. In operation, the lock holds the blade open firmly, while the can opener is not lockable. Instead, a slip joint is used but this is defective, allowing the can opener to be be folded closed with little effort against friction.Overall, a tidy-looking example that can only be carried under UK law, where a legitimate purpose and reasonable excuse exist. Apparently, the yellow lanyard was with the knife when it was issued.
