A scarce original hard to find Second World War period 'Womens Forestry Service land worker's pin badge'; chromium plated example in the form of a green enamel Crowned laurel sprays with white enamel 'Women's Forestry Service' title strap, the centre bearing King George VI cypher (1936 - 1952) to centre on green enamel ground, with white enamel ribbon scroll below 'Forestry Commission'; the reverse impressed with maker's details 'THOMAS FATTORINI LTD REGENT ST BIRMINGHAM' (Ltd after c1934). Good condition, complete with original pin fittings, no enamel loss, minor service wear.Height approx 30mm.Women's Forestry Service was originally established in the First World War it fulfilled that role and became the 'Timber Corps', from 1940 the Forestry Commission started recruiting women for the timber industry, whichwas absorbed by the Timber Corps in 1942.
