This German school edition, titled 'Mitteldeutsche Fibel โ€“ Wir lesen', was printed in 1935 in Dessau by Georg Westermann Verlag (Braunschweig / Berlin / Hamburg). The book served as a reading and exercise primer for young schoolchildren in Germany during the 1930s.The publication is based on the educational work of Otto Zimmermann and features numerous colored illustrations by Eugen Oswald. The vivid drawings depict children, animals, and everyday scenes, but also include symbols and uniforms reflecting the ideological influences of the time. The book introduces young pupils step by step to reading and writing through short stories, rhymes, and songs. At the same time, it served as a tool of indoctrination, with passages designed to familiarize children with the National Socialist worldview.Young readers were gradually prepared for the ideological mindset of the Hitler Youth. The Fibel is printed in Fraktur typeface and fully illustrated in color. This particular copy is well preserved, with all pages complete and firmly bound in its original cover with black spine.A very rare and historically significant children's reading book, clearly demonstrating how education and propaganda were intertwined in the Third Reich. The book contains 72 pages in total.Article number: 16845
