Early Double Decal M40 'Polizei' Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains almost all of its early peagreen paint, this is the same paint as was used on the earlier M35 type helmets. The paint is showing scratches and normal traces of usage. Both decals are in very good condition with some minor damage and scratches caused by usage, both decals are present for about 95%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is an M31 leather liner complete with all 8 fingers, the liner is complete with original liner-cord. The shell is marked with maker and size 'SE64' which indicates production by the 'Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G.' from Lauter. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '7597'. The helmet comes with its original leather chinstrap as found together, the chinstrap is nicely maker marked. Stunning original DD M40 Police helmet in very good condition!
