Description
The Sportabzeichen was originally introduced in the Weimar Republic (1920s-1920s) as a sporting award.From 1937 onwards, a swastika was added to the symbol.It did not serve as a battle decoration, but as areward for sporting achievements(running, swimming, strength exercises, etc.).There were three grades:Bronze, Silver and Gold, depending on the performance achieved and the age category.The set consists of a bronze version and a miniature pin, both made by Wernstein Jena, a nice set for any collection.
