German gas mask set

WH (Heer) Gas mask with short canister (Gasmaske M38 mit Blechbüchse M30) complete with short and long carrying straps and a set of spare lenses (Klarscheiben). All German military personnel were issued with a canister gas mask and accessories and were required to have them at all times. Fear of gas attack ensured that the canister gas mask remained a constant companion for every German soldier throughout the war. The M30 gas mask was made of rubberized canvas with metal parts, and the M38 gas mask was made entirely of rubber, also with metal parts. This is an M38 gas mask with an 'FE41' type filter.
