Description

High-domed gery painted steel-helmet designed for use by civilian organisations during WW2 such as ARP, fire-watchers, rescue personnel, etc. These are often called Zuckerman helmets after their designer.The edge of the rim is turned up to strengthen it. The steel rim is stamped 'M' for medium size plus 'BMB 1941 indicating manufacture in 1941 by British Motor Bodies of Dagenham. The liner is retained by its original string-lace as issued and the back of the leather sweatband is ink-stamped 'T.S.M. Co Ltd 1941 Size 6¾'.'No chinstrap as issued. The helmet has all its original parts and has no dents or damage. It has odd rust spots but overall is a very good example.A photocopy of the original wartime leaflet which accompanied the helmet will be supplied with the item.
