WW2 34th Armoured Brigade Painted Formation Sign Flash Designation Patch Arm Shoulder Badge

A first pattern early painted example, worn in facing pairs, this one facing to the left. It depicts an articulated gauntlet fist holding a mace, in white with black detail, over a red shield with a yellow diagonal band (the colours of the RAC), all with a black outline. The furthest edge painted a subdued khaki. First introduced in the Autumn of 1944, they were replaced with a better looking Brabant Weave pattern later. The badge is in excellent worn condition and was made by 'Display Patents'. Scarce.The brigade was equipped with Churchill tanks and provided close support for assaults by the infantry. During the fighting in North-west Europe from July 1944 to May 1945 the brigade served with the First Canadian Army and the British Second Army.
