Rare WW1 Grimwades Commemorative Vase Depicting Two Bruce Bairnsfather Cartoons

Here on offer is a rare WW1 Grimwades commemorative vase depicting two Bruce Bairnsfather cartoons.Captain Charles Bruce Bairnsfather was a prominent British humourist and cartoonist. His best-known cartoon character is Old Bill. Bill and his pals Bert and Alf featured in Bairnsfather's 'Fragments from France' cartoons published weekly in The Bystander magazine during WW1.The front of the vase depicts a large cartoon in sepia tones, Bill and his pals cowering in a sandbag dugout with a shell exploding above it, with the phrase 'WHERE DID THAT ONE GO TO?'It is also marked with Bruce Bairnsfather's initials, 'B.B' and Belgium 1915.On the back it has a sepia image of what looks like Bert and Alf sitting in an artillery shell hole, with explosions above them, with the phrase:'IF YOU KNOWS OF A BETTER OLE, GO TO IT'Then on the bottom it has the black logo for:GRIMWADESWINTONSTOKE ON TRENTThe vase has a hairline triangular crack on the back, near the base as shown in my photos.There is no age crazing to the finish and it retains the gilded finish to the rim.This is a scarce example of this type of Bruce Bairnsfather Ware and if it didn't have the hairline crack it would be worth over £150.
