1911 Coronation medal with metropolitan police reverse To- PC.B.STAMMASBalacklava Charles Stammas was a resident of Berwick upon Tweed & enlisted in to the Metropolitan police in 1910. He served with H division at Whitechapel & was discharged to pension in 1929. He was born on the 40th anniversary of the battle of Balaclava & his father was a well known Crimean war & Indian Mutiny veteran from Berwick. He went on to become the landlord of the Stanley Arms on West Street in Berwick & died there in 1932.NEF & Complete with copy police pension papers & a lengthy obituary from the Berwick illustrated journal.
