Australia WW2 2/43rd Battalion Slouch Hat - 1941

Khaki army fur felt. Press stud side.Six fold khaki cotton Puggaree dated 1945. This with an original colour patch for the 2/43rd Battalion.This hat whilst it presents extremely well has some issues. It has a large repair to a torn section on the brim and with particular to around the bottom of the hat crown joining the brim. This ow machine sewn and largly hidden by the Puggaree and when the brim is in the turned up position. Some moth tracking with particular to the top crown on the press stud sid3 and again hidden from view when the brim is turned up. The brim fitted with a nice oxidized rising sun hat badge. The press stud on the brim also has some issue with snapping together and you can see where a pin was once pit through the brim to keep it up.Has original leather sweatband with factory makers name 'Dunkerley Ltd Akubra' and dated 1941. No chinstrap. Large size hat 7 1/2.Priced accordingly due to the damage, but if you can live with this condition it's a great display hat that gives little away to its issues. Recently one sold on Ebay for $1200.
