A good example of the officer model 1895 helmet. The body is constructed from polished black leather, with mild crazing throughout, the exterior stitching remaining intact. Has all its gilded brass metal fittings, which includes the detachable ball top with two ventilation holes and an ornate design at the base), spike mounting base with four eight-pointed star pins, rear spine, front visor trim and chin chainstrap (multi-scaled with leather backing and buckle. Has both Officer pattern three-colour cockades of Imperial Germany on the right side and a black cockade representing Prussia on the left side, The original helmet plate is the correct officer pattern with voided crown. All the gilded metal fittings have a mat being and appealing age tone consumate with age. The underside of the visor is lined in green, while the underside of the neck guard is lined in red, the inside is lined in brown leather sweatband with a brown silk two piece lining to the dome. Overall a lovely example with minimal retaining a great shape and appearance.
