Description
You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE example of a WW2 German Luftwaffe 1st Model 1940's WW2 German Luftwaffe Junghans Clock, Fl. 23885! This type was used in aircraft such as the Me109, Fw190, Me110, Me262, and many others!Mounted on the main instrument panel, this clock needs no introduction. It was made famous throughout the war as the standard German Aircraft Cockpit Clock. It was usually mounted on the front or side cockpit consoles and features a chronometer, adjustable bezel, and a 15-minute timer.Made of brass with a brass bezel, this EARLY 1st model Junghans clock is in VERY NICE used condition! It retains 70% of its original black, and originally featured a push-on back (as opposed to a screw on back). Some light marks and scratches throughout from age, but nothing that detracts.Appears to have a bit of post-war green paint on some of the sides (see photos). The dial is near MINT and still glows at night (must be charged with UV light). The second hand is a VERY EARLY variant that I have never seen before. As the push-on back went missing, it seems the prior owner added a glass cover. Though I have not attempted to remove the glass cover, it should be easy to swap out with an original cover by the winning bidder. The serial number is stamped into the front, indicating, '3670'; and there is a prominent Junghans logo on the crown. 100% FUNCTIONAL, This is the RAREST and most sought-after variant! Would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection, panel re-build, or restoration project!
