1940 Wartime Proclamation Poster of French President Édouard Daladier

The poster is approximately 14-3/8 inches by 21 inches. The poster is in French and it shows age toning and faint fold lines. The text of the poster begins 'Depuis vingt jours, nous sommes en guerre' ('For twenty days we have been at war'). The poster appears to be mounted on linen, through which it can be seen that the poster had color printing on the reverse side. On the reverse side was the emblem of France and the text 'Pour ne pas etre asservis. Pour defendre notre sol, nos biens, nos libertes' ('So as not to be enslaved. To defend our soil, our property, our freedoms'). The reverse side has a 1940 dated library stamp on the linen backing as well as what are presumably collection inventory notations.
