Third Reich Era Slovakia Order of Prince Pribina Breast Star

Available
$3850.00

Description

The massive, solid breast star is riveted construction and is approximately 3-1/4 inches tall. The pin on the reverse bears a silver content mark of '987' and a maker mark of 'K'. The gilt central disk on the obverse shows light scratches where it was at one time presumably tested to determine if it was gold. Each of the tips of the rays has been angled inwards. The Slovakian Order of Pribina was instituted in May of 1940 for award to both Slovaks and foreigners, with one foreign recipient being the Third Reich Foreign Minister, Joachim Von Ribbentrop. The Order was abolished at the end of World War II with the establishment of Communist Yugoslavia. The breast star has a dark, uncleaned patina.
