Royal Irish Fusiliers Flag

The silk flag is embroidered with the unit motto in Gaelic ('Fág an Bealach', or 'Clear the Way') and the company designation, and it has a separately applied eagle flag pole finial of the 8th French Line Regiment (which was captured at Barrossa in the Peninsular war). The flag is single sided and it is approximately 32 inches by 49 inches in size. There is a cloth tag sewn to the flag bearing handwritten numbers, likely a collection inventory number. The flag shows age soiling, some separations of the silk, and a hole in the upper corner, but the flag nonetheless makes an impressive appearance.
