Monogrammed Presentation Model 1934 French Air Force Officer's Dagger

This Model 1934 French Air Force officer's dagger has a very bright blade and the brass pommel, guard, and scabbard fittings all have an uncleaned patina. The white celluloid grip is without chips or cracks. The leather scabbard has only minor scuffs. The ricasso is manufacturer marked 'La Coutlre Fant a Lyon'. The blade has an elegantly executed presentation in a fine script: 'Les s/ Officiers de l' E.E. a leur Capitaine'. The 'E.E.' in the inscription is the French Air Force abbreviation for 'Escadron d'Entrainement', or 'Training Squadron', making the presentation 'From the officers of the training squadron to their Captain'. The pommel bears the engraved monogram of 'C.M', no doubt the initials of the Captain who was honored by his officers with the presentation of this dagger. Overall excellent condition.
